Nursery Sneak Peek

Goldie’s nursery has been done for a while now and with the help of a dear friend, Mia we were able to capture some of the most important aspects of her nursery!

While the process of creating a nursery can be fun, I realized through the design process that this space is really about preparing for the amount of change that will take place in your lives. Also, it hadn’t occurred to me that I’d be organizing and asking myself common questions, like, “Where the hell am I gonna put this?”

In the beginning of my second trimester, I was in GO mode! I loved looking at Pinterest for ideas and looking to other bloggers and designers for inspiration. I was already gifted with a beautiful crib, so it was really about adding the things I truly wanted to make Goldie’s room stand out. I quickly scoured the internet for dressers and rocking chairs. Additionally, I scored a beautiful rocking chair from West Elm. The vase, pouf, and lamp are also from West Elm (Do you see a theme here? lol.) I also found an authentic Ivory Juju hat at a flea market and accented her room with various pillows, handmade by yours truly and some from Target. For all things organizational I used clear storage containers for easy viewing. Finally, I added several pieces into her bedroom from Imani Collective, specializing in artisan made goods from Kenya. I also thrifted some items along the way which are sprinkled throughout her nursery. Since Goldie will not be in her room for about the first six months, we decided to keep an additional bed in her room in case we need it for guests.

Although nurseries are a very special and emotional place for young children to nurture and grow, it was important to stay true to who we were as parents and incorporate our own personal sense of style. Even though we want to give her the world, we also wanted to keep Goldie’s room simple and natural, which is what I think we were able to achieve.

Overall, it truly feels good to have Goldie’s room completed. And while the house is still a never-ending project in my eyes, I’m eager to tackle another room – Any ideas on what part of the house I’ll take on next? You’ll just have to check back and see!
